George Frederick Smith was born on April 19, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up loving the woods and nature of Michigan. He moved with his parents and siblings to Granada Hills, CA in 1958. He married Edna Luvenia Shier from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in 1961. George was a hardworking man that treasured his family. He was a “Mr. Fix It” always willing to lend a hand. He worked at Litton Industries for 26 years and then ventured into entrepreneurship in 1987 when he opened a Mailboxes, Etc. store in Canyon Country. In 2005 he retired to San Diego.
Retirement interests included wood working, gardening, seven grandchildren, cross country travels by motorcycle or motor home. He loved being Camp Host at Yosemite National Park for many summers. The highlight of his travels was a motorhome trip with Edna to Fairbanks, Alaska.
George entered into rest on July 8, 2019 in Escondido, California. He is survived by his wife, Edna L. Smith (Shier); daughter, Alison M. Moss and son-in-law Christopher S. Moss; son Daryl F. Smith and daughter-in-law Geraldine Cruz-Smith; Seven grandchildren, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by father, George Frederick Smith, mother, Muriel Kathleen Smith, and brother, Marvin Cecil Smith. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
