

Gilbert Mario Garza died peacefully on April 4th, 2018 at the age of 85 and 11 months. Gilbert is survived by his children, Jo Ann Bours and son in law Mike Bours of Carlsbad CA, Ralph T. Garza and daughter in law Patty Juarez of New Braunfels TX, Sally T. Garza of Oceanside CA, and Marion Jennifer Garza of Oceanside CA and by his sister Celestina Baez, cousins and many nieces and nephews of San Antonio, TX . He has joined his wife Celia Trevino Garza and son Gilbert Mario Garza Jr. and loved ones in everlasting life. He was born in San Antonio Texas on May 9th, 1932. He began working at the age of 5 shining shoes at The San Antonio Produce Market, where one of his customers was his future wife, Celia. He was also a good son and brother. He was a proud Marine who joined The United States Marine Corps. on March 13th, 1952 and never failed to send the majority of his earnings to his mother to help support his family back home, including a special allowance for his little sister Tina. On April 7th, 1957 he married his sweetheart Celia, soon after they moved to California where they raised their four children. Gilbert was a respectful and loving individual with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted grandfather to his nine grandchildren, and one great grandson. His grandchildren always looked forward to coming home after school to his delicious tacos and sweet treats. Gilbert was a hard worker all his life and everyone who met him loved him. He spent his retirement years enjoying his family, his coffee and cookies, his Sunday calls with his sister Tina, and his beloved dog Molly. He also enjoyed his favorite T.V. shows which in included Andy Griffin show, Seinfeld, Everyone loves Raymond and Friends. Favorite music by Elvis, Johnny Cash, Dean Martin, Sinatra, and many more. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and devout Catholic. He will be greatly missed until we all meet again.
Please join us in celebrating his life on April 19, 2018 viewing at Eternal Hills Memorial Park at 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral will be held on April 20,2018 at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea 609 Pier View Way, Oceanside, CA 92054 at 11:00 am and will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122 at 2:15 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate.
