Henrietta (Queta) Gonzales Bleuer was born on January 15, 1933 to Simon and Mary Gonzales. She and her 13 siblings were raised in a small home in “Eden Gardens” (also know as La Colonia) in Solana Beach California.
Being the oldest girl, she left school in 9th grade to help support her siblings. She first worked at the Tony’s Jacal Restaurant, then as a domestic helper during the day, as well as a caterer in the evening in the Rancho Santa Fe area. She ultimately retired as an associate salesclerk with the Robinsons May Department Store.
At the Age of 21, while walking through the neighborhood, she came to the attention of her future husband, Gordon Arthur Bleuer. It was love at first sight when he saw her walking down the street. He said to his brother “that’s the woman I’m going to marry”. Henrietta and Gordon eloped on June 26, 1954.
They raised 4 daughters, Jo-Ann, Debbie, Diana, Lorraine and a son, Robert. Their children blessed them with 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Henrietta’s greatest pleasures in life were serving the Lord, supporting her church, helping those in need, and making her famous pies for others. Not to mention loving all her family.
Let us always remember her for her infectious smile, her loving kindness, and her zest for life.
