Hugh loved that I played in a big band, and he seldom missed a gig that was a dance.  My friends laughed about my getting him a date for the dances.  When we played “our song” he would always be sure to dance  in front of me so I knew we were sharing the song.  Today is band rehearsal, and I will be requesting our song, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” His spirit will be there sharing it with me  once again.  I have such wonderful memories.

It’s five years today since you went to your heavenly home.  Your spirit and love  comforts me in such a beautiful way.   

In my thoughts often and in my heart always.

Today is the fourth anniversary of our last day of having Hugh with us here as he went to his Eternal Home at 3:05 am on the 7th.  We have not been parted in death as he is still in my heart and his memory is a part of my every day.  My path runs across people that Hugh touched and we share memories.  Last week I met a service provider whom Hugh gave one of his wallets and she told me she still carries it in her purse.  It reminds her of his kindness and generosity every time she opens it. I'm so touched how his life testimony lives on.

Missing Hugh tonight.  He was such a caring person and such a joy to be around.

I thank everyone who has written a bit of how Hugh contributed to their lives.  Hugh loved people.  One of his greatest joys was to be able to encourage someone who needed a kind and loving word.  I am grateful for every day that we had together.  He loved to tell everyone "our story" and would always end it with, "My job is to spoil her for the rest of her life, and I haven't received a pink slip yet."  He held me on a pedestal that no human could ever attain, and  I recognized and held it dear that it was one of the many ways he proclaimed his love.  I have a cup given to me by one of our children which says it all for me:  "A true love story never ends."  I will be his BonBon and he will be  my Babe... forever.

Was thinking about Hugh the last few days.  If he were still with us today, I have no doubt that he would find a way to be the life of the family gathering!  I miss him still.

I think about my dad everyday. I remember all the positive advice and thoughts that he would send my way. He always had a smile for me, and always had time for me. He told me how i made him proud and that i was a good man. I tried everyday to do the the things that i felt would make him happy and proud of me. I didn't always feel like i got the job done, but he always told me he was still proud and loved me very much. Hugh treated my mom like a queen. He always had a special smile and warm hug for her everyday. He showered her with all his love and it was something very special to see. I will miss all the special times that i was able to spend with my folks. Dinner and a Gulls game, many Charger games, Sunday church, and not to mention pretty much every holiday over the years. Most of all i will miss my dad's smile. I will always be his Sir Jeffrey of Carlsbad and will talk to him often. He will always be with me. Miss and love you dad.

Although I didn't know Hugh well, I felt a special bond since my late husband's name was also Hugh.  Bonnie, you and your family are in my prayers.  Who knows, maybe the Hughs will meet in Heaven and form a bond!

We all hold our membories deep in our hearts.  Hugh touched each of us in countless ways.  As Aunt Elaine holds out her hand to show him the path to a heaven full of grace and peace, may you open your arms, as you always have and embrace what the Lord has in store.  We will live our lives, taking a piece of you with us on our journeys, remembering your smile and the zest for life you have always shown us.

Hugh was such a very special person; a real gentleman; a very good friend. I will always remember his smiles and laughter, the times that we spent together and especially the kind ways that he always spoke about you;  you could feel his love for you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Given what he has been through recently, there is peace in knowing that he is with God and smiling again (and yelling...Go Chargers!). We'll all miss him.

i did not know Hugh for very long but it was long enough to know he was a gentleman who always had a smile and  the nicest of pleasantries when we met.I so enjoyed my email correspondence with him.
Am so glad the two of you had the opportunity to spend the latter part of his life together in love and friendship.

What started as a business dealing turned into quite a friendship. Over the years our Lexus dealership sold thousands of cars  but none of them turned into a relationship like the one with Hugh and Bonnie. His smile, in person or over the phone, made your day just a little bit better. On behalf of Jane, Kevin and me, it was great knowing you and you will be missed.

Hugh was my grandpa. From my first memory I have of him to the last time I talked to him he always called me his best buddy in the whole world and he always made me feel like I could take on the world or do whatever I put my mind to if I tried. Grandpa didn't have a negative bone in his body he always had a smile on his face and he was the most sincere man I've ever met. I love you so much my buddy you will always have a special place in my heart that can't be replaced by anybody and I hope one day I could be half the person you were.

Dear Bonnie and family,
We are saddened to hear Hugh passed away. I am his cousin from New Jersey. I'm so glad that we were able to reconnect several years ago and visit together. Hugh was a very special loving, caring, Christian man and a genuine gentleman. I saw many traits in him that my dad had. My parents thought the world of Hugh and his brother Lester. 
   I shall treasure my memories of him and celebrate his life and accomplishments. Our sympathies reach out to all of you. I am so lucky to be a part of this family.

Grandpa was quite an intimidating intellect. No matter the field, he always had unbelievable insight. Economics, philosophy, sports, public duty, but most astounding was his unshakable faith. You may have found him remiss in many things, but never in his outward testimony for Christ. You couldn't talk to him very long before he would mention, what he called, "the divine guide" or pull a handheld cross from his pocket and tell you about Jesus. He regularly gave out devotional booklets and has supported us in China for nearly seven years. Truly heaven allures me now more than ever, knowing he is there.

When my daughter Christine married Jeff Oglesby, one of the unexpected benefits was meeting and getting to know Jeff's father, Hugh Hall.  Loaded with charm and armed with a  perpetual smile, Hugh always radiated a warm glow that made everyone around him instantly comfortable.   A very difficult array of health challenges was never a match for his optimism and positive spirit.   Hugh was blessed with many natural gifts, a loving family and many, many friends.  

Hugh and I each referred to one another as "the other Hugh" and my wife Susan and I have been greatly blessed to have had "the other Hugh" in our lives.  We miss him.

Hugh, I want to thank you for making me an important part of your family. You always showed me incredible love and comfort and there's no way to express my gratitude except to say, "I love you, Dad." I have only known Hugh for 5 years, since I married into the family, but from the very first day he made me feel loved and a part of the family.  I have been blessed by his consistent warm, loving, friendly, outgoing attitude.  I am so glad to have known him and to know that I will see him again one day in heaven.

Hugh was the most generous person that I have ever known.  His heart was big and he cared for others immeasurably.  To count the number of times that he came to the aid of family would be an insurmountable task.  Undoubtedly there are countless friends, coworkers and organizations that Hugh helped out, too.  Hugh was a larger-than-life figure who everyone enjoyed to be around.  He always wore a smile and made friends with every person that he met.  After meeting Hugh, my friends and coworkers would quickly inform me that I had “one awesome grandpa.”  I am glad that my grandfather came into my life.  I loved Hugh dearly and I will miss him sorely.

Hugh was my cousin but also a mentor and friend. I worked for him at the San Diego 200th  Anniversary Celebration and learned a lot about doing the job right the first time. We kept in touch during my Air Force career with Hugh and Bonnie stopping by during their wonderful travels wherever we were stationed. A wonderful man, friend, and brother in the Lord.

'A father is someone who lifts you up and holds you there forever'.

With his kindness, generosity and unconditional love, Hugh lifted me to ethereal heights.  He touched my heart deeply and enriched my life immeasurably.  My gratitude, and now sorrow, are beyond words.
