Janice Christine Fischer

Janice Christine Fischer (Jan) died peacefully on June 25,2025. Jan was born in Glendale, CA on July 13, 1926. After graduating from Los Angeles State University in 1951 she taught elementary school in El Monte and Glendale. She was married to Robert Fischer (Bob) for 66 years and parents of eight: Mark (wife Andrea), Greta, Elaine, Paul (wife Adele), Karen, Michelle and two children, Stephan and Mary Kay, who died before birth. She has nine grandchildren: Nicole, Tiffany, Brian, Ronnie, Kayla, Connor, Taryn, Beau and McKenna; as well as seven great-grandchildren: Zachary, Madison, Kieran, Colton, Scout, Roran and Asa.

They lived in many cities in California, making several comfortable homes and were involved in numerous parishes as well. Jan was a lifelong Catholic and a Eucharistic Minister for 35 years.

Jan loved gardening and traveling in all forms. She and Bob loved to dance and danced into their 80’s. Her love for her family and her faith were evident in her life.

Besides her immediate family, Jan is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maureen Godar (Don) as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Fischer (Bob), brothers Robert Godar and Donald Godar and sister-in-law Donna Godar.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday July 21 at 12:30pm at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 525 W. Vista Way, Vista, CA. A Celebration of Life Mass is planned for July 21st at 1pm – same location. Interment will immediately follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA. A reception will then follow in the Vista Del Mar’s club house located at 1170 Via Santiago, Vista, CA.
