

Marcelino A. Castro Jr., affectionately known as “Beaver,” of Oceanside, California, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the age of 91.
He was born on May 31, 1934, in Solana Beach, California, to Marcelino Castro Sr. and Esther Adame Castro. Marcelino proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated 37 years as a civil servant at Camp Pendleton and later continued his career with the Vista Unified School District.
Marcelino was preceded in death by his parents; his seven siblings; and his beloved wife, Lina (Escarcega) Castro.
He is survived by his two sisters, Alicia Camberos and Christine Serrato (husband Ramon); his son, Frank Anthony Castro; and his daughter, Sylvia Marie Parsons (husband Scott A. Parsons). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Frank Anthony Castro II, Cory Austin Castro (wife Alexandra), Aurora L. Castro, Vanessa Parsons, and Vivian Parsons; as well as three great-grandchildren.
Marcelino and his wife were devoted members of St. Margaret’s Church. He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—visiting casinos, spending time outdoors, camping, and barbecuing. He was especially known for his authentic carnitas and his remarkable ability to connect with others wherever he went. Above all, he treasured time spent surrounded by family and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all family members, friends, and caregivers for the care and compassion shown to Marcelino in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Eternal Hills Chapel, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret’s Church, 4300 Oceanside Blvd, Oceanside, CA 92056, with interment immediately following at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054. A reception will be held afterward, where all are welcome to gather and celebrate Marcelino’s life (location to be announced).
