Maria Luisa Valenzuela went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home with family at her side on March 29, 2026. Maria Luisa was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on May 28, 1942, to the parents Maria Luisa Morones and Jesus Morones. She lived her early childhood in the valley in El Paso, Texas. As a teenager, she met the love of her life, late husband, Lorenzo Valenzuela, at the Riverside Dance Hall during a high school dance. After several years dating, they married on December 3, 1967, at St. Patrick’s Church in Canutillo, Texas.
She was the mother of four daughters - Sandra, Cecilia, Rachel and Rebecca and the grandmother to two grandchildren Isa and Ryan whom she loved with all her heart. After marrying Lorenzo and giving birth to her two eldest daughters she moved to Carlsbad, California where she then had the twins Rachel and Rebecca and where she resided for over 51 years.
She had many passions throughout her life which included going to beauty school, being a secretary and teacher at the Carlsbad Unified School district and a librarian at the Carlsbad Library. She was an active member in the Carlsbad community and advocated for Mexican immigrant rights and was one of the founders of La Posada de Guadalupe Housing program for homeless men and farm workers. At the Carlsbad library she supported creating the first Spanish story hour for bilingual children in her community.
She was a devout Catholic and attended St Patrick’s Church for many years. She also was a passionate sports enthusiast. She carried joy in her heart in the simplest ways, like cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Golden State Warriors. Those moments of happiness, shared with the people she loved, are now treasured memories that will never fade. Lastly her grandchildren were a true blessing for her, bringing her immense joy and the motivation that gave her the strength and courage God placed within her for so many years.
Everyone that met her or knew her for many years would express how caring, loving, faithful she was and dedicated to her family. She immensely loved her husband, Lorenzo and four daughters and grandchildren. She made a significant impact on everyone she met because of her kind, loving, and fun personality. Our mom will be in our hearts every day because she has left us full of her love, life, and memories. She is what made her daughters and granddaughter who they are today, and we will always love her for that and continue on sharing and spreading her ways of life. Te extrañamos muchísimo Mama, pero cada día sigues viviendo en Nuestros Corazones. Eres la angelita que siempre nos va a cuidar hasta que nos encontramos otra vez. Descansa en Paz Mama.
Family and friends are invited to attend Maria Valenzuela’s services at Eternal Hills Memorial Park on Sunday April 12, 2026, at 9:30 AM where she will then be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Lorenzo.
Maria Luisa Valenzuela will be laid to rest at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, on April 12, 2026.
