Phil was the son of Andrew and Rose Obrite. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Obrite; his sisters,
Patricia Obrite, Teresa Obrite, and Kathy Nunnery; his sons, David and John Obrite; his stepchildren,
Jackie and David Dever; and his grandchildren, Zane and Jessie Obrite.
Phil worked as a truck driver for most of his career, then shifted gears to become a real estate agent.
Whatever his profession, Phil loved to keep moving. An avid sailor, Phil captained the Hunter 33 sailboat
“Whiskey Chaser” and the Lido “Phil of Baloney”. The Obrite Navy was a beautiful fleet, and even
avowed landlubbers were always welcome aboard to explore the seas or enjoy a cold one. While serving
under Captain Monty Yearly, he earned the title Crew Member of the Year at Oceanside Yacht Club. Phil
was also a skilled fisherman—and a master griller. When on land, Phil enjoyed riding motorcycles,
brewing beer,and hanging out with his family and friends. He is sorely missed, but he left his mark. He
will be toasted for years to come. Celebration of Life June 26, Prohibition Brewery, Vista CA 2 to 4 pm.
