Raymond Acosta Jr, age 85, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at

ActivCare, Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad, California.

Raymond is survived by his children: Joseph Acosta, Steven Acosta,

Angela Acosta, John Acosta and Didi Acosta. He also leaves behind 6

grandchildren, Ashly Rybka, Nino Subotic, Luka Subotic, Maia Acosta,

Phoenix Herrmann & Reef Herrmann.

Raymond is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War, where he earned

several medals fighting to protect and preserve the rights of his family and

fellow Americans. He grew up in the Bronx, New York, the son of Raymond

and Mary Acosta. He started working at the age of 10, lost his beloved

mother to cancer at age 12 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp

at the age of 17. He served at the DMZ in Korea and was deployed for

several tours of duty in Vietnam. During the Vietnam War Raymond

became a Mustang officer, rising to the rank of Captain. Throughout his

deployments and military career his family was cared for by his wife of 43

years, Aiko Acosta. Ray retired from the United States Marine Corp in 1972

and began a new career as a lineman for PacTel in Oceanside, California.

After his retirement from PacTel he enjoyed many years traveling and

singing karaoke with his wife Aiko and friends from the Japanese-American

Cultural Center of Vista. They practiced diligently and fervently competed

against local karaoke clubs. His beloved Aiko passed away on July 14,

1998.

Ray eventually moved to Oahu, where he started a new life. He shared

several years together with Linda. They enjoyed traveling, golfing and living

the island life. After Linda passed away, he returned home to the mainland.

Services are private. Under the direction of Eternal Hills.
