Vista, CA. Thomas Binkley Bates (Bink) 90 years old peacefully passed from our fold on January 27, 2022. He is survived by his children Brenda Loucks (Dave)of Vista, C., Pamela Simon(Greg) of Hemet, CA. and Thomas Bradford Bates (Aimee)of Vista, CA. He deeply adored his 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and will be missed by his many friends and family members. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Francis Corene Bates of 65 years.
July 4, 1931 in Lavaca, Arkansas Etta Mae and Argus Bates along with their four daughters Jane (Carter), Jean (Harris), Agnus (Whitney) and Loise (Bullington) welcomed baby boy Bink. The Fourth of July would always be known as a special day in the Bates family. Bink was was their youngest child and only son.
Throughout his life Bink served his community and country. First as a staff Sargent in the Airforce and later as a long time active member of the Vista Kiwanis Club.
His occupations were as varied as his interests. He owned and managed family businesses in Hawaii, California and Texas. He is best known as the owner of Golden’s Television Service in Oceanside as well as being a caregiver for disabled women alongside his daughter and wife.
Bink was a verocious reader, an amazing mind and a history buff. His conversations and stories were legendary. He held his friends and family close to his heart.
Bink will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, unconditional friendship and his extensive love for this family. Our hearts break as we will miss our father, grandfather, uncle, best friend and confidant, but we all rejoice in knowing that he is joining his beloveds.
Services will be held in Oceanside CA. On March 12, 2022 1PM at Eternal Hills. A celebration will follow at Bink’s family home in Vista, CA. Feel free to send any shared memories to his legacy account or email [email protected].
