February 7, 1921 – January 6, 2011.
Born in Grand Saline, Texas, Thurman was the son of the late Era Lou and John Marvin Currey. He was preceded in death by sisters Eva and Yvonne, and brothers Leland and Leon.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; daughter Vickie Liles, son Jim (Susan) Currey, and daughter Cindy Currey; grandchildren Richard (Laura) Currey, Robert (Dawn) Liles, Sara (Brian) Wilkening, Matt (Vanessa) Currey, and Morgan Currey-Diaz; great-grandchildren, Dennis, R.D., William, Carina, Kenny, Savannah, Breelyn, and Joshua.
He was a decorated WWII and Korean War veteran, who spent 22 years in the Marine Corps. Upon retirement he worked in the food service industry and owned two restaurants; Scandia Restaurant and Currey’s Smorgasbord.
After retirement, Tom and Betty traveled throughout the U.S. in their RV and enjoyed spending time with their family.
Viewing for family and friends will be Tues January 11th from 5 - 8 P.M. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Services will be held on Wed January 12th at 10 A.M. with internment at 11:30.
