

Toki was born in Saipan. She was raised in Okinawa, Japan from childhood by her paternal aunt and uncle, whom she fondly referred to as her raised mother and father.
She was a devoted wife and mother, always kind and generous. Her favorite pastimes included gardening with her husband James, especially tending to her Okinawan sweet potatoes, daikon, and bitter melon. She loved playing Hanafuda with her friends and watching Sumo wrestling and the San Diego Padres on TV.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Makofski, her parents, her raised parents, and her young sister, Miko.
She is survived by son Joseph Makofski and his wife Ann of Aurora, CO, and daughters Mary Makofski and Stella Makofski, both of Oceanside, CA. She is also survived by brothers Tetsu Maekawa, Uichi Nakada, sisters Katsuyo Maekawa, Michiko Nakada, all of Okinawa, Japan, Yasuko Hardin of Tennessee, and many nephews and nieces.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA.
Committal Service to follow Celebration of Life at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
