Trice Wesley Mott, affectionately known as Wes, was born on February 20, 1939, in Bastrop, Louisiana, and passed away on October 26, 2025, in Oceanside, California, at the age of 86. Wes will be remembered as a kind, upbeat man whose easy smile and steady good humor made others feel welcome wherever he went.
After graduating from high school in 1956, Wes began a lifetime of service by joining the United States Air Force. Two years later, he transitioned to the United States Army, where he built a distinguished 20-year military career. His service included tours in Vietnam and the Belgian Congo, and he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. While serving, Wes also earned a master’s degree from the University of Colorado, a milestone he was deeply proud of.
Upon retiring from the military in 1978 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4, Wes embarked on a second, successful career in the civilian world. Over the next 47 years, he served in leadership roles—most notably as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer—for several Consulting Engineering Firms. His work contributed to infrastructure projects across the continental United States and Hawaii.
Beyond his professional life, Wes found joy in the simple pleasures, especially golfing. He spent many contented days out on the course, appreciating the outdoors and the friendships that came with the game.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Trice Lamar Mott and Minnie Mott, and by his sons, Bradley Mott and James Mott.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Joyce Mott; his brother Bob Mott; his sisters Becky Gunter and Mary Bellman; and his daughters Terri Fatherly and Linda Gerken. His family will forever cherish his gentle spirit, quiet humor, and the kindness he shared so freely.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service:
