A Celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA, on June 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
Virginia was born in Henderson, N.C., to Finley Joseph and Lucy Margaret Bell in May 1930. She moved to La Jolla, California with her father in 1946 where she graduated from La Jolla High School in 1947.
After marrying her sweetheart in 1949 and becoming the mother of three children, she began a long banking career. She enjoyed working as a real estate manager in trust services for the majority of her career. At age 62, she started her own business “Diversified Personal Services” providing financial and personal services for ‘seniors’ until retiring in 2015. She was a member of the Professional Fiduciary Assoc., Forest Home Christian Camp Auxiliary, a volunteer at Green Oak Ranch, and many other ministries, including planting sustainable food gardens in South Africa at age 75.
Virginia loved and served God, family and friends wholeheartedly and unselfishly her entire life. Spending time with family and friends was her favorite pastime. She was a talented, creative seamstress, homemaker and gardener. She loved music, playing the piano, making photo albums, knitting, crocheting, the beach, seashells and traveling with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Finley J. and Lucy Bell, two brothers, Finley J. Bell, Thomas B. Bell, and a sister, Ann D. Davis. Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Claude T. Bell of San Diego; daughter Deborah (Tam) Hodgson; son Craig (Jackie) Francis; son Terry (Renee) Francis; six grandchildren Jason (Kerri) Hodgson, Brian (Stephenie) Hodgson, David (Jenny) Hodgson, Rachel Francis, Kristopher (Christy) Francis, Lauree (Joe) Hawes, and nine great-grandchildren Reese and Cole Hodgson, Wyatt and Ryker Hodgson, Rylan Hodgson, Ryley and Britynn Francis, Audree and Aidan Hawes, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
