In hind-sight, after knowing LaMont all these years and then attending his celebration if life just a few days ago.... Its obvious to see that Lamont touched so many people with his kindness.  Even as he knew his time was coming, him, thinking of his Momma, sent her to enjoy herself for the last days of his life. He knew what he was doing. He knew his time was near. And, still....he was thinking of others. He wanted to go knowing his Beautiful Momma was away from the stress of it all and...he wanted to give her a going away gift. Im so sorry You are gone, Brother. I Love You, Brother.

I knew La’Mont, as he often reminded me of the spelling of his name, from working with him at TBS through NAI.  He always had a huge smile on as he walked into any room.  Some of my fondest memories of La’Mont were him playing games with our co-worker’s young son on a Saturday in the office, La’Mont supporting our co-worker and friend after she was in a bad car accident that he happened to drive by and he stayed with her until she was able to return home, and La’Mont finding a way to get a Christmas tree back to my home after a family we were working with surprised me with it.  La’Mont always went above and beyond for everyone that he knew.  I know that God is caring for him in heaven as he smiles down on all of us.

I knew LaMont from our time many years ago working together at CATC. We first became close when I was robbed at gunpoint in my apartment. I shared with him my fears about returning to my apartment after the event and even though we were just acquaintances at the time he immediately offered to go with me to my apartment to help me retrieve some of my belongings. He continued to do this until I felt safe enough to return on my own. He had a huge heart and would give someone he cares about the shirt off of his back even if it meant he would go without. Countless youth in San Diego benefited from his love and compassion. The world is missing a great person and the “gentle giant with the million dollar smile”will forever be in my memories 

I've had more than a week to register this huge loss and still can't comprehend or accept that my friend/brother is gone. LaMont had the biggest heart, hugest smile and most infectious laugh of anyone I've ever known. As with a lot of others, LaMont and I worked at New Alternatives CATC with one another. He immediately became a friend. The love and dedication to his work and children of CATC was palpable. He, often times, was the glue holding that place together. I will forever cherish the memories of our time together and hold dear the unforgettable friendship we had. His heart was so big and all who knew him loved him. I love you Parks and will miss you always with all my heart. You have been taken too soon but God always has a plan. Whether we like or not. Mrs. June and family please accept my deepest condolences and prayers at this time.

Just received this sad news. At a loss for words... my friend.... Childhood memories will be forever imbedded in Our hearts. Remember playing basketball with Bullet running around... Please accept this note of sympathy for the loss of your son Warlon Lamont Parks. Although I am miles away, my spirit is with you and I will be praying for you all. During the first year I met Lamont, he went to the NFL try outs. The NFL's loss was the world's gain because Lamont's outreach went further than Sunday's game. He changed the lives of so many children and adults through his compassion and generosity of spirit. We were hired within a month of each other at CATC so we saw each other grow up professionally and as people. I am proud to say I knew him and he was my friend. My condolences to the Parks family. You raised quite a man.

My parents ERNIE & HAZEL WING were really good friends with WILLIE & JUNE(his parents) they'd come over bringing their kids and we'd all be outside playing while the grown ups we're inside playing cards or whatever or our families would have picnics together at Buddy Todd Park. So we shared a bond thru our parents at a young age. Then from 7th grade until Graduating from OHS our paths crossed many of times, every time I seen him he had that beautiful smile. You were such a great guy. Now ur a blessed angel! Please REST FOREVER PEACEFUL. Until we meet again♥️

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Lamont was such a special guy who left so many ripples in the lives of the kids with whom he worked. My husband Gordon and I worked with Lamont at CATC for years.  He was tough on the outside and as sweet as can be on the inside.  He made such a difference in the lives of those kids. He was always the most protective of the  vulnerable kids and he always made them feel safe.   He was so generous with a big heart.  
I hope you are comforted by knowing how much goodness Lamont left in the world by his very presence here.

My heart is broken. I met Lamont in 1992 and worked alongside him  for more than 13 years. He was my friend, my co-worker and my workout partner. After working at New Alternatives for years, I decided to move to Arizona. On my last day at CATC they organized a luncheon for me and Lamont stood up and spoke. He had some kind words for me and finished by sharing he had always seen me as a brother. That right there stuck with me and I never forgot. Through the years we stayed in touch by phone and always intended to "hook up" again, along with the rest of our CATC crew. That never happened and it makes me sad. You will be missed...my brother.

It’s difficult find the words, because it just makes it all too real.

I met LaMont about 25 years ago, when I worked at CATC, fresh out of SDSU. He had such a strong presence about him. There was a serious side, and then there was a very funny, silly side to him. There were many times where we laughed so hard, we would be crying. His laugh was contagious, and his smile was unforgettable. The CATC 3-11 pm shift was a tight group, we became family, and LaMont was the center of it all. He was the guy that you could call at any time of the night, and he would be there for you. He was kind, thoughtful, and truly cared about others. I always felt safe, with LaMont around. 

I will miss LaMont’s hugs, and hearing his voice. He last text me in February, for my Birthday, “Happy Birthday, boo. Miss and love you.” I had no idea that this would be our last text. Something told me to reach out to him, but I stayed busy with life, and let time slip by. Times like this remind you how important it is to keep in touch with your friends and loved ones. 

I am thankful for the time we had together.  I love you, LaMont. Until we meet again…




So sad to say goodbye to this gentle giant of a man. Those of us who worked alongside (Warlon) LaMont Parks appreciate what a caring man he was. His soft strength flowed from within him. He was a large muscular man who I had the pleasure of supervising at the start of his career and I will never forget walking into a preschool and finding him on the floor with a group of toddlers draped across him as he quietly read them a book. He had a calming effect and a confident presence which allowed clients to trust him. His smile lit up the room and he gave the best hugs! Gone too soon. May he Rest In Peace 💔

I had the pleasure of knowing Lamont through New Alternatives and ESU. He was always a pleasure to talk to and I always felt that he would keep staff and kids protected when he assisted with the challenging youth we worked with. He was a good guy and is gone way too soon. My condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time. RIP

I’ve waited to share a memory because I knew it meant that I won’t see you again in this world. LaMont I was 19
when I started working at CATC
so you knew me my entire adult life and taught me so many things. How to be a good friend. How a man should treat ANY woman not just ones their involved with. How to tease and have fun without ever being malicious or mean. How to treat your body because it’s your temple and to never compromise. You were an absolute blessing in my life. I have only good memories of you and I thank you for sharing your life and light with me. I’m so thankful that our last birthday message to each other was I love you. And I will love you into eternity my friend. Rest in HIS perfect peace. 

Words can not truly describe the love and light that Lamont shared with the world. I am honored to have known him for so many years. He blessed so many children’s and their family’s lives. Lamont is one of a kind and he will live in our hearts forever. You will be deeply missed on this planet Lamont. I know your spirit and energy lives on with all the people’s lives you touched and that smile that lights up a room. 🙏RIP Brother💓 

So many fond memories...I remember first meeting you at CATC. You were Ron's Best Man at our wedding...a true brother...you are family.  May you rest peacefully until we meet again. For as long as I’ve had the pleasure of having this man in my life, it makes me really sad that this is the only picture I have with him. Lamont, I am truly going to miss you. I’m going to miss hearing you say “ Don’t worry Ariana, papa Lamont’s gonna take care of you, you know I gotchu.” I’m going to miss your laugh and your big warm smile. I’m going to miss when you’d get me presents and say that they were from my mom because you’d never want to take any of the credit. That last text I sent to you was “love you too, don’t forget about us.” And you said “NEVER, you guys are my heart ❤️ “ i wish I had  known that was the last time I was going to talk to you. I love you Lamont and l’ll miss you terribly, but I’m so happy that you’re not in pain anymore. Thank you for everything you’ve ever done and being there when you didn’t have to be. You’ll always have a place in my heart.

I worked with Lamont at New Alternatives, Inc. he was very hard working man and had a big heart for the children he worked with. 

What can you say to describe a man who had a heart of gold and smile that could light up any room. LaMont, you will be missed.  Although you are gone, you will never be forgotten! You brought joy, happiness and love to anyone who met you. You will deeply be missed!!! Forever a part of the CATC fam!!! Rest In Peace my friend!  

I had the honor of working with Lamont for about 5 years, fantastic guy, I haven't talked to him in a while, this is devastating news, a big loss, RIP Lamont 

I was lucky enough to consider myself a friend to Lamont. He was an amazing guy and had so much to give to all the kids he worked with. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life. His passing has showed me how short life can be and that we need to keep in touch with our friends no matter how busy or hectic our lives get. I love you Lamont. RIP

Lamont was a true bright light in this world.  His energy permeated every room he entered and I feel lucky to have known him.  I feel fortunate to have so many fond memories of Lamont's humor, heart and generosity.  Lamont was a wonderful and gentle soul. May he rest in peace!

My condolences to the Parks family in this time of grief. I smile when I think about Lamont. He was my friend and teammate at SDSU for two years.  Always had a big smile on his face and a positive attitude.  One of the nicest people you could ever know. RIP brother.
