

William "Bill" Ellis Jones was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on November 17, 1919 to Rolla Ellis Jones of DeKalb, Missouri and Blanche J Harris of Kansas. ?He died January 19, 2016 at Tri-City Hospital.
Bill grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri, with his parents and tree brothers where his father owned an auto shop. He Moved to Los Angeles with his brother "A" in 1939 living in a boarding house they called "The Mad House". Billed joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 and took his training in Colorado, LeGrande, Oregon and Tampa Bay, Florida. Mona and Bill married on September 18, 1943 in Los Angeles so Mom went with him to each location.
Returning after the war, Bill moved Mona settled in Los Angeles, eventually having four children. Billed worked in the insurance industry for 40 years being a supervisor and insurance fraud investigator.
While living in Glendale, CA, Bill loved volunteering to coach boys basketball and baseball teams and cheering his children on through their many childhood activities. All our friends and neighbors knew Bill as he was out in the yard frequently talking to anyone who stopped by. He played golf, rode his bicycle, enjoyed camping and going to the beach with his family. He and Mona enjoyed traveling in their RV after the Children were grown and eventually retired to Carlsbad.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and their wives. Survivors include: his wife Mona, Children Christy Jones, Mark Jones (wife Colleen) and Scott Jones and Holly Hill (husband Bob). Grandchildren Matt, Colin, Andy, Sarah (husband Chris), Wes (wife Kasey), Tim and Brendan (wife Kim); great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Bret, Tyler and Hayley.
