

Funeral services for Dorothy “Jean” Fields, age 73 of County Route 10 Lisbon will be held on Sunday (May 29, 2011) at 2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith and Rev. Michael Boehm co-officiating. Entombment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2:00-6:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Fields died Thursday at the United Helpers Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Surviving is her husband Ronald “Joe” Fields Sr. of Lisbon; two sons Ronald Fields Jr. & his wife Penny of Ogdensburg & William Fields of Lisbon; a daughter Diana Teele & her husband Randy of Lisbon; a sister Dona Brown & her husband Donald of Rensselaer Falls; a brother Terry Shaver & his wife Carol of Ogdensburg; grandchildren Ronald Fields III & his wife Erin of Cornelius, NC, Jessica & Jordan Fields of Ogdensburg, Brittany Teele of Lisbon, Bridget & Briana Teele of Lisbon; great-grandson Easton Fields and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Jean was predeceased by an infant daughter Cheryl, a sister Linda Shaver and four brothers Gerald, Donald, Richard and Harold Shaver.
“Jean” was born on October 17, 1937 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Glenn & Eva (Mashaw) Shaver. She graduated from Lisbon Central School and married Ronald “Joe” Fields on August 13, 1955 at the Walker Air force Base in Roswell, NM. She worked in the Cafeteria at the Air Force Base in Beale, CA until 1975 when the couple moved to Lisbon. She then became employed at the Lisbon Central School cafeteria where she worked until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the Lisbon American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and past member of the United Helpers ICF Board. In 1987, Joe & Jean made a generous donation of land to the Lisbon community, for the erection of the Lisbon ICF Facility and adjacent play ground for area children to enjoy.
She enjoyed bowling on a couple’s league, playing bingo, gambling, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, reading, making chocolates at holiday time, cooking, watching Syracuse Basketball and spending time with her family and friends.
