

Funeral services for George N. Gladle, age 90 of County Rte 27, Lisbon will be held on Saturday (Feb 22, 2014) at 4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. His place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held also on Saturday from 2:00-4:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Gladle passed away on Tuesday (Feb 18, 2014) at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving are his wife Marlene; six daughters Donna Chairat of Ogdensburg, Tammy & Scott King of Pattersonville NY, Betsy McNamara of Lisbon, Penny Gladle of Baltimore MD, Heidi Gladle of Ogdensburg and Michelle & Reggie Moore-Burr of Lisbon; a step-daughter Wendy & Todd Palmer of Gloversville NY two sisters Beulah & Harry Moore of Lisbon and Clara Holliday of Oswego NY; a brother Glenn & Judy Gladle of Fayetteville NC; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
A sister Pauline Lockel, three brothers Clint, Myron & Charles Gladle and a granddaughter Ashley Gadle predeceased him.
George was born on Sept 10, 1923 in the Town of Oswegatchie, a son of the late Myron & Grace (McIntyre) Gladle. He attended Ogdensburg Schools for his education, and enlisted in the US Army from 1948-1949. An earlier marriage to Beverly Smithers ended, and he then married Marlene Freer on May 29, 1984 in Waddington.
George was a truck driver early in his career, and later become employed at Republic Aircraft Company in Long Island, NY. He returned to the North Country a few years later and became employed at Alcoa in Massena. In 1963 he then purchased a farm in Lisbon which he operated until 1988 when he retired and sold it.
He enjoyed his pet cat Rumpus, tinkering and fixing things, snowmobiling, riding motor cycles and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Memorial gifts can be made to the Parkinsons Foundation or the SPCA.
