

Funeral services for Helen M. Ashworth, age 79 of State Hwy 184 Heuvelton, will be held on Thursday (November 10, 2011) at 10:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Lay Minister Lee Lewandowski officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton.
There will be no public calling hours. Ms. Ashworth died Saturday (November 5, 2011) at her home. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Surviving is a niece Phyllis D. Ashworth of Riverbanks, CA; a nephew Stuart E. Ashworth of San Jose, CA; special caregiver Robert Lawton of Heuvelton and many friends.
A brother Harold “Paul” Ashworth predeceased her in 2008.
Helen was born on January 27, 1932 in DePeyster, NY a daughter of the late Harold W. & Laura (VanValkenberg) Ashworth. She obtained degrees in Agriculture, Education and Pyschology from the University of Hawaii. After her education, she relocated back to the Heuvelton area where she worked as a home healthcare aid and operated the family farm. She was a member of the Heuvelton Methodist and Presbyterian Churches where she also played the organ for weekly services, the Potsdam Humane Society, the Ogdensburg SPCA and the Native American Association.
She enjoyed playing the organ, violin, accordion, piano and guitar. Memorial contributions can be made to the Potsdam Humane Society or the Heuvelton Presbyterian Church. Online condolences can also be made at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com
