Hollis J. Harris

Hollis J. Harris age 59 of Ogdensburg died Sunday (November 5, 2017) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center with his son by his side. There will be no funeral services as per his request. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Surviving is his son Marcus of Ogdensburg; a step-daughter Jeanne “Gigi” Grover & her husband Jake of Michigan; grandchildren Alora, Tristin, & Corbin Grover; three sisters Robin Harris of Watertown, Linda Johnson of St. Regis Falls. A brother Cory Emmons and three sisters Bonnie & Cathy Harris and Mabel Patel predeceased him.

Hollis was born on February 22, 1958 in Gouverneur, NY, a son of the late William D. & Joyce (Simmons) Harris. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued his education at Mater Dei College where he received an applied science degree in social work in 1980. In 1998 he also received a degree from Canton ATC. A prior marriage to Michelle Bentley ended in divorce.

Throughout his working years he was employed at step-by-step, the National Guard Depot, Holiday Inn, Great American, Mitel, Syracuse Hotel, Ivy Ridge and Basta Flowers prior to his declining health. He enjoyed participating in Show Time, playing the piano, guitar and drums, music of all kinds, gardening, genealogy and spending time with friends and family.
