

Funeral services for John “Jack” W. Mitchell, age 82 of Rensselaer Falls will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday (April 21, 2016) at Foxwood Memorial Park with Rev. Douglas Lucia officiating. Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at the mausoleum. Mr. Mitchell passed away on Sunday (Apr 17, 2016) at his home with his son Peter by his side.
Surviving are three sons Stephen Mitchell of Tupper Lake, Peter Mitchell & his companion Justine Juapoe of Rensselaer Falls, Stewart (Kathleen) Mitchell of Peru, NY; three brothers David (Dawn) Mitchell of Macomb, Benjamin (Jolene) Mitchell of Fulton and Richard (Rose) Mitchell of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren Jessica, Joey & Kaleb Mitchell and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Jack was born on August 30, 1933 in Macomb NY, a son of the late Clyde & Anna (Flight) Mitchell. He graduated from Morristown Central and continued his education at Canton ATI earning a degree in agriculture. He later married Virginia A. Mitchell on Sept 10, 1960 at St. Anthony’s Church in Syracuse. She predeceased him in 2008.
During his career he was employed at USDA in the Farmers Home Administration & Soil Conservation Departments, Iroquois Gas and River Village Realty. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Canton FFA Alumni, Macomb & Kendrew Grange and St. Mary’s Church in Canton.
