Condolences to the family of Joyce ,bless you all during this troubling time 

Steve and your brother and sisters, my deepest condolences. You know I loved your mother very much. I’ve told you Steve and I told her a hundred times...she literally saved my life! She knew from that first interview she would play an important role in my life. She was at my graduation from Emory when I graduated with my nurse practitioner degree. She was there for my Diploma, Bachelors, Masters and when I finally became “Dr. Penny”. I too always had her sitting on my shoulder whispering and sometimes shouting praises for CARING for my patients the way she taught all her students to do. From 1973 when I entered her program until I retired in 2019 I heard her voice. Even now on the mission field she is a guiding force. She was my mentor and my conduit into the medical field. Thank you for sharing her with me through texts these past few years. Steve. I’m going to miss her.....as you know. Mrs. Crupi I know you too knew of my accomplishments and exploits as she told me she shared them with you. May all involved in her life be comforted at this time. Dr. Penny Louise Flavin

I, too, was in the first graduating class of the Practical Nursing program at BOCES. I always held Joyce in the highest esteem. I think she, along with Rose Crupi, inspired every one of the graduates to be the best and most professional nurse possible. Although I am now retired, I extend my thanks to Joyce for encouraging me to continue my education and go on to enjoy a wonderful career lasting nearly 50 years.

Very sorry to hear the passing of your mom many memories of us all in the old neighborhood my condolences to the entire Lemieux family .

I was in the first graduating class of Practical Nursing at BOCES.  Your mother told us that  when we were working, that we should  always think of her sitting on our shoulder, That we would always be professional and do the right thing if we kept  her on our shoulder at all times. She told us that she would make us "minnie" RN's". She worked us hard, and was my role model and inspiration along with Mrs Crupi.  I have been an RN for 46 years and also pursued my BSN because of her. I have carried her memory with me all these years. She was an outstanding woman. I am sorry for your loss.
