

Funeral services for Karon R. Lancto, age 64 of County Route 10 Heuvelton will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Raphael’s Church in Heuvelton with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Lancto died Friday (Sept 23, 2011) at the home of her mother Betty while under the care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Surviving is her husband Edwin Lancto of Heuvelton, two sons Anthony Lancto & his fiancee’ Krista Ann Owen of Los Angeles, CA and Christian Lancto & his wife Heather Jones of Richmond, VA; her mother Betty Peacock of Heuvelton; a sister Mrs. Dave (Kathy) Bearup of Rome, NY; nephews Dave, James & Matthew Bearup and a niece Melissa Bearup.
Karon was born on September 27, 1946 in Ogdensburg, NY a daughter of James & Betty (Mittiga) Peacock. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School and continued her education at Plattsburgh State, Canton ATC, Mater Dei and Empire State College obtaining a Bachelors degree.
She was employed at Boces for 31 years and retired in 2001. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, traveling, canning, and her involvement with the Lions Club.
Karon was an active member of several organizations to include the Sight Society of North East New York, Vice President of Lions Eye Bank of Albany, Board of Director of the Empire State Special Needs Experience at Camp Badger, District Governor of Lions 20W in 2009 & 2010, President of the Heuvelton Lions for 3 years, Secretary and Past President of the Heuvelton AmVet Auxiliary and an advisor for the Heuvelton Leo’s. She also received many awards for her outstanding dedication and commitment to her community to include the Melvin Jones Fellowship award and the Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award.
