

A Funeral Mass for Margarita Burke, age 86 of Hamilton Street in Ogdensburg, will be held 10:00am on Monday April 23, 2012 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Reverend Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Burke passed away on Tuesday (April 17, 2012) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Surviving are three sons & their wives Timothy & Debbie Burke of Ogdensburg, Thomas & Thu Burke of Long Beach, CA, Terry & Karen Burke of Fort Covington, NY; six daughters & their husbands Gloria Thompson of Canton, Linda & Bill Martino of Long Island, Margarita “Peggy” & Larry Silver of the Bahamas, Patricia & James Devlin of Orlando, FL, Nancy Russick of Ogdensburg, Kathleen & Tom Fortney of Lometa, CA; sisters Irene Sandaleas of San Antonio, TX, Martha & Robert Pena of San Antonio, TX; two brothers Henry Gloria of Dallas, TX and Ruben Arnold of Converse, TX; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren ; her companion John Wunder of Ogdensburg and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Timothy, a son James Burke, a daughter Vellia Burke and a sister Emily Willards.
Margarita was born on June 10, 1925 in Laredo, TX, a daughter of Manuel & Aurora (Mendez) Gloria. She obtained her education in Fort Worth, TX and married Timothy H. Burke on November 11, 1946 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She was an active parishioner and Alter & Rosary Society member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, a 30 year + member of the American Legion & VFW Auxiliary’s, a past member of the Ladies of the Moose and the women’s softball league. She enjoyed bowling, gardening,traveling, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Cathedral.
