Martha J. Shaver

A Memorial Service for Martha Jane Shaver, 77, of Potsdam NY and formerly of Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday May 9, 2025 at 10:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg. Martha was called home to be with the Lord after a short battle with an acute illness on April 11th 2025.

Martha was born in Granville NY on July 4th 1947 to Roy and Edna Smith. She was the youngest of five siblings. Donald, Mary Lou, Della, and Dorothy. She went to school, and graduated from Fort Ann High School. She later studied Social Work and graduated with her Masters from Syracuse University. Martha was married to the love of her life Harold for over 25 years, had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She spent her entire life dedicated to her family, and her faith. Martha was committed to helping others wherever and however she could. Martha’s faith in God was always present. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogdensburg NY.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Roy Smith, her brother Donald Smith, her sister Mary Lou Wilkins, her husband Harold Shaver, and her daughter Melissa Shaver.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle Fields, her son Matthew Shaver, her grandchildren Samantha Mock, Christopher Sloan, Jordan Sloan, Gregory Sloan, Alexis Fields, Nathan Fields, Alyssa Shaver, Madison Moore, Paige Shaver, and Gavin Shaver, her great grandchildren Elliott Mock, Emma Mock, Amelia Fields, Avianna Fields, and Apharri Fields, her sisters Dorothy Sharlow, and Della Smith, brother in law Tom Wilkins, nieces Jennifer Armstrong, Maureen Brim, nephew Chris Sharlow, other numerous nieces and nephews, countless cousins, and a multitude of wonderful friends.
