

Funeral services for Mary “Bea” Howie, age 91 of Windham, ME and formerly of Waverly Street in Potsdam will be held at 11:00am on Friday (June 19, 2015) at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam with Msgr. Robert Aucoin officiating. Interment will follow at Foxwood Memorial Park in Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday (June 18, 2015) from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam. Mrs. Howie passed away on Friday (June 12, 2015) at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services are under the direction of Fox & Murray Funeral home.
Surviving are two sons and their wives Thomas & Cathy Howie of Fishers, IN and Timothy & Wanda Howie of Windham, ME; a sister Georgianna Bruyere of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren Danielle, Amy, Jessica, Jonathan & Christopher and seven great-grandchildren Gianna, Gavin Ava, Payton, Michael, Miley & Evee.
She was predeceased by her husband Vincent on December 4, 2007, along with two brothers George & John Robillard and three sisters Philomena Mills, Lillian Massia and Marguerite Rabideau.
Bea was born on August 13, 1923 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late George & Georgianna (Brabant) Robillard. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1942, and later married Vincent M. Howie on May 10, 1949 at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. Brunet officiating. During her career she was employed at ALCOA from 1942 – 1955, drove school bus in Ogdensburg for a period and was the payroll clerk, and later pastry chef at Potsdam Central School. In 1970 she advanced to Cafeteria Manager at the school where she worked until her retirement in 1992.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Senior Citizens Club in Potsdam. She enjoyed her family, helping shut-ins and was a talented seamstress.
