

A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia “Pat” A. Burwell, age 81 of Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday (Oct 25, 2017) at 10:00am at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will follow at the Pinehill Cemetery on the Eel Weir Road Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2:00-6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Burwell passed away on Sunday (Oct 22, 2017) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving is her son Edward Burwell & his wife Mary of Ogdensburg; two daughters Valerie Schneller of Liverpool, NY and Diane Burwell of Live Oak, FL; a brother Gerald Martin & his wife Linda of Fulton, NY; eight grandchildren Jillian Pharoah & her husband Billy of Ogdensburg, Jennifer Kennedy & her husband Michael of Ogdensburg, Jessica Davis & her husband Matt of Newark, NY, Kristen Funkhouser & her husband Scott of Orange, VA, Ashley Schneller & her companion Dustin Dain of Peekskill, NY, Joel Schneller of Heuvelton, Heather McDonald of Tarpon Springs, FL and Kenny McDonald of Live Oak, FL; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Mary Martin of Fine, NY and many beloved friends, nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Morris Burwell in 1987, and her siblings Mildred Martin, Nelson Martin & Donald Martin.
“Pat” was born on November 26, 1935 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Vincent & Cecelia (Gladle) Martin. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and continued her education at the Beaux Beauty School in Syracuse. She later married Morris E. Burwell on August 31, 1957. During her career she worked at JJ New Berry’s, the St. Lawrence State Hospital, as a beautician in Syracuse for several years. She later relocated back to Ogdensburg in 1963 and continued her work as a beautician and later became the store manager for Triangle Shoe’s until her husband’s health declined.
