

Paul R. McBath, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 74 years; two sons David (Judith) McBath and John (Barbara) McBath all of Lisbon; three daughters Kathryn “Katie” (Philip) Stoliker of Ogdensburg, Carolyn (Nick) Pianella of Endicott, and Paula McBath (Renee Parsons) of Albany; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He is predeceased by his siblings Irma McBath, Irene Hill, Ersel Logan, Vera Power, Kenneth McBath & Leland McBath.
Paul was born on November 8, 1917 in Lisbon to the late Samuel & Nettie (Scruton) McBath. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1936 and continued his education at Diesel Engineering School in Pennsylvania and Northwest Tech where he earned a degree in Electrical & Refrigeration. He married his sweetheart Helen Race on April 8, 1941 at the Presbyterian Manse in Heuvelton. He served in the US Army with the 101 Cavalry Brigade for over 4 years and was honorably discharged. He took great pride in his military service and continued his service to his community through his volunteer efforts with the American Legion Post 1342.
Upon returning home from the military, Paul became the 3rd generation owner and operator of the family dairy farm. In 1977 he opened his own plumbing & electrical business until his retirement in 1995. He was a lifelong member of the VFW in Canton, and a member of the Lisbon American Legion and the Cavalry Club in Staten Island. Paul enjoyed playing cards, reading, his pet cat, spending time with family and friends, going out to lunch with Helen, repairing things and going for car rides. He treasured his family and lifelong friendships and was proud of his home and the life he built on “Moncrief Hill” in Lisbon.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 12:00 – 2:00pm, followed by a funeral service at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Reverend Joseph Weidler officiating. Interment will follow at Foxwood Memorial Park with military honors.
