

Funeral service for Robert F. Rapin, 84 of Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10 am at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home with the Reverend James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be at the White Church Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 4 – 7 pm. Mr. Rapin passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at United Helpers Riverledge Nursing Home.
Bob was born on August 29, 1931 to the late Francis and Jeanette (Lalone) Rapin in Hammond. After his high school graduation from St. Mary’s Academy in 1950, he worked as a delivery man for Brown’s Dairy of Ogdensburg. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served in Alaska from 1953 through 1955 earning the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Bob married Elinore LeBarge on May 7, 1955 at the Notre Dame Church with his Uncle, Reverend Cyril Rapin officiating. He went to work for Canton ATC and while working there furthered his education in electrical engineering. He serviced the heating and cooling systems at the college for 20 years and then transferred to Riverview Correctional Facility, working as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer until his retirement in 1993.
Bob is survived by a daughter-in-law Cynthia Rapin of Mexico, NY, grandchildren, Julie and Jason Tubolino, Dyanna Rapin and Marina Hoefer along with great grandchildren Payge and Carsen. He is also survived by a niece Beth Reynolds of Waddington, great-niece Megan Reynolds, and great-nephew Mark Reynolds, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rapin was predeceased by his wife Elinore, a son David Rapin, and a half-sister Debbie Tibbles.
Bob was a member of Notre Dame Church of Ogdensburg and the Seaway Cruisers car club. He enjoyed working on and restoring old cars, hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling.
