Roger W. Ferris

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of the service at the Mausoleum. Mr. Ferris died Sunday (Oct 9, 2011) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Surviving are his wife Lila, a son Walter Ferris of Ogdensburg, a daughter Sylvia & her husband Kurt Tennant of Ogdensburg; a brother Walter “Jay” Ferris & his wife Doris of Heuvelton; four grandchildren Ellyssa, Linsay, Jonathan & William Tennant and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roger was born on Sept 3, 1938 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Hiram H. & Carrie E. (Poor) Ferris. He graduated from Heuvelton Central High School in 1958 and served in the US Army from 1961 – 1963. He married Lila J. Udall on June 27, 1964 in Amityville Long Island, NY.

During his career he was employed at Sealtest in Canton, Gulf Oil Company in Ogdensburg, owned and operated the Ferris Wheel Tavern, and was co-owner of Ferris Fuels, LLC.

Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, traveling, and spending time with his family.
