Andy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 29, 1939. He went to Hawthorne Elementary School and then Taft Jr. High School, graduated from Northwest Classen High School (Class of 1957) and attended Oklahoma City University.
He was happily married to Mary Inez Cornelius on March 19, 1994 and spent 30 beautiful years together. Andy worked in the wallpaper/paint industry for many years and was manager and owner of Roy Cornelius Wallpaper. He then owned his bail bonding business which allowed him to spread the word to many who needed his help. Several of these families have reached out to me saying how his Christian witness changed their lives for the better through the years.
Andy was a long time member of Country Estates Baptist Church, Midwest City, Oklahoma, Veterans Memorial Committee (Midwest City) where he had a dream and spearheaded a drive for placing a lone flag pole in the city park. That dream became a full fledged Veterans Memorial representing veterans in all branches. He was also a long-time member of Christian Business Men’s Committee (CBMC) and served as a volunteer chaplain for several years. Most of you I am sure heard him say "Keep Looking Up" every time you spoke with him or received letters/Cards. And of course it also included his life verse of Romans 8:28. His last wishes included inviting everyone to receive Christ personally through scripture (Ephesians 2:8-10, John 3:16-18, John 1:12, Romans 8:28 and Acts 10:31).
Andy loved to listen to the Gaithers and spending time with family and friends near and far. His devotion to spreading the word about Jesus by passing out gospel tracts and witness was his life's mission for 60+ years.
Andy is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, along with his parents Roy E. Cornelius and Lois Wagner Cornelius.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Cornelius Gransden (Gordon) of Newburgh, New York, his sons, John Mark Cornelius of Arizona, and Andrew (Drew) Chester Cornelius, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother, Roy Earnest Cornelius, Edmond, Oklahoma; sister Patricia Stonequist, Wellsville, KS, grandchildren, Tracey Michelle Gransden, Brian Layne Gransden, and Larissa Cornelius Corbin; 5 great grandchildren, Mya Greasham, Shayla Spearman, Jonah Gransden, Aaliyah Gransden and Nori Corbin; step children Pamela Lynn Davis (Mark) Neighbors, Scott Eugene Davis (Elaine Clay), and Marcia Jean Davis (Don Estes); step grandchildren Stephanie Lynn Khoury, Bridgett Ann Chaghouri, Clayton Davis Estes, Audrey Marie Estes; step great grandchildren Connor, Alexander, Jonathon and Owen as well as many nieces and nephews.
His Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10am. at Country Estates Baptist Church, 1000 S Midwest Blvd, Midwest City, Oklahoma 73110. Graveside service will be at 2pm, Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
