Charlotte Kaye McCulloch born February 19, 1948, went to her heavenly home on January 9, 2023. Charlotte Kaye was born in Eldon, Missouri to Melvin and Lois Black. She was the eldest of five siblings. In her early years, she was a wonderful big sister who helped her mom take care of her siblings while her father worked in construction. She often found fun and adventure in her books and loved school, perfecting her handwriting, and maintaining straight As.
At age 15, while working as a carhop at Coit’s Drive-In in Oklahoma City, she met the love of her life, Harry Marshall McCulloch II. Harry and Charlotte wed on August 12, 1963, in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the First Baptist Church of Guthrie. To their union, they had three children Anthony Marshall McCulloch, Melissa Dawn Duncan, and Melanie Anne McCulloch.
She was a dutiful wife and mother raising her three children. In 1977, Charlotte, Harry, and their children moved to Virginia. While Harry worked at the United States Postal Service, Charlotte worked at Central Fidelity Bank and McLean Bank in customer service. She went on to become a service representative for USAA life insurance.
In 1993, Harry and Charlotte, moved to Littleton, Colorado for Harry’s job in the United States Postal Service. She loved her time in Colorado and found joy in taking care of her husband. One of her greatest adventures was a hot air balloon ride, her husband Harry surprised her with for her 50th birthday. She was joined by family, strawberries and champagne, and flying in a hot air balloon over the mountains.
In 1999, Harry and Charlotte moved back to Oklahoma City. She looked forward to returning to her roots and spending time with family. In Oklahoma City, she worked her dream job as a retail clerk at Donna’s Hallmark for 11 years. All her children and grandchildren received Hallmark ornaments reflecting their life events. After retirement, she became a caregiver for Harry.
Charlotte was a caregiver to her core. From taking care of her siblings, to children, and her husband, she always looked for ways to help others. She was gracious, selfless, and gentle. Charlotte made it a priority to connect with everyone she met. There wasn’t a place she didn’t go, that the retail store clerk, the casino attendant, or the Jimmy’s Egg waitress didn’t know who she was. She was a charismatic, creative, intelligent, beautiful, funny person that everyone was drawn too. Charlotte loved her grandchildren. She made sure to have individual time with each grandchild focusing on their interest and likes. From talks at home after high school, to soccer games, to drama plays, to dressing up for tea parties, and going to movies, she invested her time and wisdom into her 7 grandchildren. Her legacy reaches far and wide just like her love for her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Marshall McCulloch II, her dad and mom Melvin and Lois Black, bonus mom Reda Black, and nephew Lance Monroe Black.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters Marlin Monroe Black (Rita), Michael Lee Black (Paula), Carolyn Sue Kupiec (Thomas), and Sharon Ann Moerlins; her children Anthony McCulloch and fiancé Terri, Melissa Duncan and husband Bryan, and Melanie McCulloch; grandchildren Harris McCulloch, Kevin Jackson Jr., Deanna Gates and husband Chandler, Gabrielle Burge and fiancé Gavyn, Davilyn Morris, Grace Morris, Bryan Duncan Jr. and wife Cari, and Destanie Kremer; great-grandchildren Brynn Duncan, Blu Hamilton, and a host of family and friends.
