

Jim has stated that his greatest achievement in life was receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and he was serving Him as an active member of Quail Springs Baptist Church. Jim grew up in the OKC area, attending Capital Hill High School, graduating in 1954. Jim attended OU, worked for his father at Advance Plumbing and Heating Co., then later for Matherly Mechanical Contractors. In 1978 Jim moved to Lawton, OK to partner with the J.C. Hester Co. retiring in 1991. He returned to Matherly Mechanical Contractors where he again retired in 2002. Jim served in the OK Air National Guard 205th for 21 years, retiring as SMSGT/E8.
Jim was a 56 year member of the UA (United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters). Jim served on the State committee which co-authored the “Oklahoma Mechanical Licensing Act”.
His parents, Clayton and Lucille Hicks preceded him in death.
Jim is survived by his wife Kaye of their home; sister Marilyn Smith; brother Tom Hicks and wife Connie; brother John Hicks and wife Cheryl; son Clay Hicks and wife Gayle; son Jeff Hicks and wife Cindy; daughter Denise Shepard and husband Steve; as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held for Jim at Fort Sill National Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at Quail Springs Baptist Church in OKC at 2:00 p.m.
