

Betty was born in Manchester, NH on September 11, 1923 and raised in Medfield, MA. Betty proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Womens Reserve on active duty during World War II, where she met her husband Bob, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage until his death on December 14, 2010. Upon returning from service, she and Bob settled in Edmond where they both attended the Univ. of Central Oklahoma and then Oklahoma State University. She lived many places in the United States, as her husband served as a Warden or as Director of Corrections in McAlester, OK, Canon City, CO, Shelton, WA, Florence, Douglas and Tucson, AZ, Topeka, KS and Augusta, Maine. Betty worked as an administrator at hospitals in Florence and Tucson, AZ.
Betty was a member of the Women’s Golf Association, Women Veterans Association, the Women Marines Association, charter member of the U.S. Marine Corps Coordinating Council in OKC as well as the alumni of OSU and UCO, and the Edmond Historical Society.
Betty is survived by her daughter Becky of Edmond, sister-in-law Beverly Mahoney of MA, brother-in-law George Patterson of Edmond, nieces and nephews Patty and Mike Grubbs of Moore, Peggy and Jerry Jones of Phoenix, John and Kathy Mahoney, Linda Savage, Nancy Nadeau, and Laurel and Joe Francoeur, all of MA, cousin Linda and Dale Rinehard of Yukon, many great nieces and nephews as well as her beloved granddogs. She was predeceased by her son Robert R. Raines, Jr., J.D. in 1993 and her husband Robert R. Raines, Sr., in 2010.
Services will be held at 2:00 Monday, February 12, at Crossings Community Church in the Chapel at 14600 Portland Ave. Private Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Womens Memorial at www.womensmemorial.org
