In the mid 1950’s she settled at NW Classen. Her side-interest in politics inspired her to create a student-project in the early 1960’s to have students go to the Capitol and ask legislators if they would support a bill containing certain language, not telling them that each phrase was one of the Bill of Rights. This landed her in an article in TIME magazine. Having no children of her own, she considered her nieces and nephews plus her former students as her “children”. After retiring in 1977 she joined her husband in an antiques appraisal business.
