With grace and quiet strength, Freda McDonald, 91, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born on May 12, 1934, in Lookeba, Oklahoma, to Troy and Gertrude Hildebrand, Freda carried the warmth and resilience of her small-town roots throughout her life. She graduated from Choctaw High School and went on to build a full and vibrant life shaped by family, friendships, and a strong work ethic.
Freda married WA McDonald in 1950, and though their paths eventually diverged, together they welcomed three beloved sons, David, Darrell and Mark, who remained the pride and joy of her life.
Freda enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career as an executive secretary and business owner, working with Macklinburg Duncan and later operating her own shop, Corrine’s. Always elegant and industrious, she left a mark of grace and competence in every professional role she embraced.
Beyond her work, Freda lived life with curiosity and joy. She was an avid traveler, a talented knitter, and a devoted scrapbooker who preserved memories with care and creativity. She found joy in the simple pleasures—cards with friends, spirited games of bridge, and time spent with her bowling club. She was a proud member of a local garden club and gave generously of her time as a volunteer following the Oklahoma City bombing, offering comfort and compassion when it was most needed.
Freda was preceded in death by her son David McDonald; her parents, Troy and Gertrude Hildebrand; and her sister, Joyce Fahrni.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Darrell McDonald and his wife Celeste, and their children Matt and Will; her son Mark McDonald and his wife Denese, and their children Chelsea, Bryce, and Frank. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Corrine Wilson, and great-grandmother to Dade, Graham, Hart, August, and Violet. Freda is also survived by her dear siblings: Glenna Birdson, Troivette Terhune, Dean Hildebrand, and Don Hildebrand.
Freda lived a life of quiet dignity, kindness, and perseverance. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her creative spirit, and the gentle, enduring love she shared with all who knew her.
A visitation for Freda will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
