Ivan Lee Johnson, 92, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A man of quiet strength, boundless curiosity, and unwavering devotion, Ivan’s life was a testament to integrity, hard work, and deep love for both family and the natural world.
Born on August 24, 1932, in Stigler, Oklahoma, Ivan was the beloved son of Eunice and Nevada Johnson. He graduated from Leflore High School before going on to earn his bachelor's degree in mathematics and engineering from Northeastern State University. He later received his professional engineering license, a milestone that would define his life’s work.
Ivan dedicated his entire professional career to OG&E, specializing in engineering and fuse coordination. His meticulous mind and commitment to excellence earned him respect among colleagues and a legacy of reliability in Oklahoma's energy infrastructure. He remained a proud alumnus of both Leflore High School and Northeastern State University throughout his life.
On August 31, 1958, Ivan married the love of his life, C. Doylene Brown. Their marriage of nearly 67 years was a partnership built on deep affection, shared values, and unwavering support for one another.
Ivan had a profound appreciation for the outdoors. Whether fishing in a quiet stream, hunting in the Oklahoma countryside, or tending lovingly to his garden, nature brought him joy and peace. He also had a gifted eye for photography, capturing the beauty of the world around him. His talent behind the lens earned him awards and admiration, but for Ivan, the true reward was preserving moments and memories.
Above all, Ivan was a devoted family man. He is survived by his cherished wife, Doylene Johnson; his children, Steven Lee Johnson of Edmond and Melissa Kaye Johnson of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Steven Craig Johnson and family of Moore, OK, Seyanne Johnson and family of Yukon, OK, Laten Johnson and Ava Johnson of Arcadia, OK; and great-grandchildren, Parker Carson and Adilynn Johnson.
His gentle spirit, wisdom, and quiet humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park's Historic Cemetery Chapel located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A life well-lived, a man well-loved. Rest in peace, Ivan.
