Jim was a constant source of light and love to everyone who spent time with him. He made meaningful connections in every community he joined, from his church and volunteer work to his friends and neighbors.
As a computer engineer with Burroughs Corp., 1960 to retirement, he enjoyed teaching and training others throughout the country to further the young information technology industry.
One of his many passions was volunteering at the Crossings Community Clinic, comforting patients with prayers during difficult times. Another joy in his life was feeding turtles at the creek near his home, where he affectionately became known as “Turtle Man”.
Jim was a man steadfast in his devotion to God, his family, and absolutely anyone else he felt called to help with his kind words, prayers, and presence. Jim felt a deep-rooted sense of gratitude for life and for the people around him and expressed this gratitude every day.
Jim is survived by his son James Morgan Jr., daughter-in-law Eileen, and granddaughters Kristen Rutherford of Houston, TX and Lauren Rutherford of Grapevine, TX. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Gloria Rutherford Gray, his wife, Jane Mathis Rutherford, and his son, Phillip Rutherford.
