

Joan Jones Sayler was born February 4, 1923 in Cleveland, OK, to Imogene & Paul C. Jones. She left this world on January 11, 2011, after having touched many lives with her love and beauty. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
The family moved to Wewoka while she and her sisters received their education. Through the years, Wewoka was always our hometown.
Her hobby and passion was flying. Her flight instructor was her future husband and at age 17 she soloed and received her pilot’s license. At 18 she was honored as Air Mail Queen of Wewoka Oklahoma.
She married Captain Robert N. Sayler in 1941. His work with American Airlines took them to several cities as he was based in Memphis, Tulsa, Dallas, Boston, and New York. After returning they moved to San Diego and later to Oklahoma City.
After her retirement from Streets in North Park, she enjoyed traveling all over the world. She also enjoyed being a member of the Oklahoma Hospitality Club.
Joan and her sisters, Joyce Helmey and Mary Helen Kouri, are famously known as the “Jones Girls,” a wonderful supportive team.
Joan’s memory will be cherished by her sisters, Joyce Helmey and Mary Helen Kouri of OKC; daughter, Karen Joan Sayler & husband Christy Guzzetta of New York City; son, Robert & wife Sara of Edmond; grandson, Xavier of Edmond; and granddaughter, Loren Barr.
Joan was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Edmond. Her funeral service will be at the church, 11am Friday, January 14, 2011, with interment to follow at Cleveland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Memorial Park, Thursday 1pm-8pm, with the family to receive friends from 5pm-7pm.
