Katie was best known for her devotion as a Social Worker for the ''Welfare Department,'' Department of Mental Health, First Step, Travelers Aid, Avalon Correctional Services and was adjunct faculty at OCU and the OU School of Social Work. She was well loved by her co-workers and clients. Katie's sense of humor and her faith carried her through the good and tough times; she embodied values of gentleness, kindness and loyalty to family and friends. Friends and strangers alike found a receptive listener who offered suggestions without judgment. She was generous of spirit and goods as evidenced by her activism and volunteerism. She valued family, learning, and had a strong work ethic. Katie loved gardening, cooking, playing bridge and other games, picture and crossword puzzles, football, traveling with family and friends, and Texas bluebonnets.
