Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery

Louise Brandt Gaines was welcomed into Heaven on December 26, 2020. Born in Prescott, Iowa on November 8, 1918 to Frank and Lettie Brandt, she was the youngest of 8 children.

Louise married Orville Arthur Gaines on July 6, 1939 and worked as Rosie the Riveter at the Cornhuskers Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska during World War II. Louise and Orville moved the family to Oklahoma City in 1956 where she ran the family business of swimming pool construction for 23 years.

Louise was a longtime member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and sang in the Chancellor Choir for 40 years. Louise loved children and took care of them in her home for 31 years.

Her dearest wish was to be able to continue living in her own home until her passing. Her son Jerry and daughter Margie were her caregivers and made sure that her wish was fulfilled. Louise passed peacefully and without pain at the age of 102.

She was preceded in death by her husband Orville and her son Jon. She is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Louise was so dearly loved by her family and many friends. She will be deeply missed.

At Louise’s request, there will be no gathering due to Covid.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
