Mildred Marie Sieber passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 93.
She was born in the family home in southeast Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1947. She graduated a year earlier than her classmates at the age of sixteen.
Marie married Robert Lee Davis, with whom she had three children. During this time, she worked for the Veteran's Administration before beginning her career with the Federal Aviation Administration. During her tenure with the FAA, Marie held numerous roles, retiring as a Contract Management Specialist after a career spanning 30 years. She loved working at the FAA and made many friends there.
Marie had three special, lifelong friends. The four enjoyed many trips together, frequenting Colorado & Branson, as well as, many craft shows. If you saw one of them, you would see the others too. They shared many laughs together during good times, and supported each other through challenges.
Marie was also devoted to her family. She checked on loved ones as often as needed even if it meant going to their home every day for extended periods. She made trips to relatives who lived in other states to help them get the care they needed.
Marie later met Bill Montgomery at the FAA. They had a long and happy marriage. Bill had three children and six grandchildren. Marie & Bill enjoyed trips in their motorhome and cruises.
As a host of holiday meals and family dinners, Marie found perhaps her greatest joy. She loved having everyone together, catching up, making future plans and, of course, eating. These occasions would often involve eruptions of laughter to the point of tears, as well as steep competition playing Canasta and Dominoes. For many years, on Sunday evenings, her daughter, son, and grandson picked up hamburgers for dinner before a spirited and competitive domino game; the winner had bragging rights for one week.
Marie married Joe Sieber in 2006. Marie and Joe traveled the world. They visited her brother in Shanghai twice; they traveled to Alaska by RV completing Marie's visit to all fifty states; they journeyed to the Galapagos Islands, Scandinavia, Russia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates.
Marie loved to read and had many hobbies. She belonged to a sewing circle and enjoyed working with ceramics. For several years, she volunteered with Special Olympics to accompany a group to Colorado to ski. Gardening was one of her passions; she had a beautiful, well-adorned yard with many rose bushes and flowers.
Marie lived a long and full life; she had a great many adventures, a wonderful & singular sense of humor, and a generous heart. She touched the lives of everyone around her, and will be dearly missed. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Rayburn and Clarence Lee; son, Robert Lee Davis, Jr., husband, Bill Montgomery; brother, Mike Rayburn; and husband, Joe Sieber. She is survived by her daughter, Deb Delhotal; son, Jim Davis; grandson, Charles Delhotal, and his wife, Meghan, and many other loving other loving family members.
A funeral service for Mildred will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel, 13400 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
