

He was born in Porterville, California, on August 3, 1948. Paul graduated from Southeast High School in 1966 before enrolling in a technical electronics course at Oscar Rose Jr. College. On September 18, 1967, he joined the U.S. Army and honorably served for 19 months in Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star along with other commendations.
Paul married Hoa Thi Doran on May 26, 1988, and together they built a life filled with love and family. He worked as an electronics mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base for 20 years. Paul was passionate about horticulture, fish husbandry, carpentry, and music. His favorite pastime was spending time with his wife and family.
Beyond his many talents and interests, Paul was known for his warm heart, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He valued self-improvement and had a knack for fixing anything. His quiet strength and deep wisdom were evident to all who knew him, and his sense of humor could lighten even the heaviest moments. Paul’s kindness, patience, and love for learning left a lasting impact on anyone who encountered him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Paul Doran, and his mother, Iva Deme Kidd.
Paul is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Hoa; his daughters, Alyssa Cruz and Holly Elmore; his stepchildren, Lan and Billy McCabe, Minh and Tim Weldon, Cuong and Rachel Pham, and Truong and Thuy Tran-Pham; and his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Shelbi Elmore, Connor and Emily Berghom, Tai Pham, Sophia and William McCabe, Hannah and Ezekiel Pham and Alexander Weldon.
Viewing will be held 5-7pm Sunday, February 16th at Memorial Park Funeral Home (13313 N Kelley Ave, OKC, OK 73131)
Funeral services will be 11am Monday, February 17th at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
