

David graduated from Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, CT in 1955. As a high school student he enjoyed being a caddy at the Silver Springs Country Club in Ridgefield.
He proudly served 20 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Sr. Master Sergeant (E8). He was a Vietnam war veteran serving as an inspector for Headquarters Air Division the last five years receiving a Strategic Commendation Medal. After retiring from the Air Force, he then served 21 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Orlando, FL.
He grew up in the Episcopalian faith and served in the church as an Alter Boy. As a child he and his father enjoyed participating in the Soap Box Derby. He enjoyed golfing and shared that passion for the game with the family. He enjoyed basketball, both college and professional. His favorite teams were the University of Connecticut, and Orlando Magic. He enjoyed traveling, cruise ships, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed researching family genealogy and sharing the history with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Clarenda “Kinnie” Campbell, three sons, David “Davey” Edward Johnson, Jr, Kevin Anthony Johnson, (Brenda), George “Russ” Johnson (Sue) , and one daughter, Stephanie E. Harden (Jim), and one stepson Robert “Bobby” Lamb. Thirteen grandchildren, Christy Miranda, Amy Thomas, Austin Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Shelby Johnson. Katie Lamb, David Lamb, Denise Lamb, Matthew Lamb, Michelle Lamb, and Laura Lamb, and was a Dadpop to 7grandchildren as well as nineteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Meda “Elaine” Johnson, his parents, George Edward Johnson and Mary Crane Johnson, a sister, Beverly Emerito, stepsons Michael Lamb, and Jimmy Lamb, a brother-in-law Daniel Campbell, and a Mother-in-Law Monnie Lamb.
A visitation for David will be held Monday, September 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. A graveside will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817.
