

Joan Kingsbury Schoen of Winter Park, FL passed away on Tuesday September 2nd at the age of 80. She was born on October 18, 1944, in Port Washington, Long Island, NY near where she grew up in Bayside, NY. She moved to Miami, FL in the late 60’s and eventually moving to Maitland, FL in 1976 with her husband and two sons. Recently she had been a resident of Winter Park, FL for many years.
After graduation at Bayside High School, she attended Shenandoah College in Winchester, VA. She then worked in the airline industry initially as a flight attendant and later in reservations with Piedmont Airlines, US Air, and Southwest Airlines. She also worked in real estate for several years. Joan volunteered often at the local live theatre in Winter Park which kept her connected to her lifelong joy, The Arts & Entertainment. Other pursuits she enjoyed were writing and painting.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nelma Olivia Camaropoulos, her stepfather, George Camaropoulos, her father, Harry Davis Kingsbury and stepmother Janet Kingsbury.
She is survived by her ex-husband Robert “Bob” Schoen, and sons Robert “Bobby” Schoen and Douglas “Doug” Schoen, sisters Carol Milander, Jan Comfort, and her brother Ken Kingsbury. She is also survived by her grandson Zachary Schoen and wife Jessica, and great grandchildren Owen, Beau, Rosalie, and Joseph.
Joanie’s trust in the Lord never wavered as her life reflected a “childlike faith” (Mark 10:15) and she truly believed God’s promise that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them, who are called according to His purpose”. (Romans 8:28)
The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs and Advent Health Hospice for her care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Friday, October 3, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. A memorial service will occur from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. A catered reception will be from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
