Becky Demarest Johnson

Rebecca Ann Demarest Johnson passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011. Visitation will be held Friday, November 25, from noon-2 p.m., at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park, Kansas. A Christian Service will immediately follow visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas at a later date.

Becky was born June 16, 1950, in Brookfield, Missouri to Lewis and Mary Demarest. She graduated from Brookfield High School in 1968. In 1972 Becky married Teddy Harold Johnson and the couple lived in Overland Park, Ks. Becky graduated from UMKC School of Pharmacy in 1973, and she worked for Missouri Retired Persons Pharmacy for 25 years. In 2000, Becky began working for the Department of Veterans Affairs CMOP (Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy) at Ft. Leavenworth, and she was working for them when she became ill. Becky will be lovingly remembered for her loyalty and generous spirit.

Becky is survived by her mother Mary Demarest of North Kansas City, sister Betsy Demarest Rosetti of Kansas City, and her loving companion James Copp of Shawnee, Ks. Other surviving family includes Jean Elliott of Olathe, Ks, and Laverne and Doris Demarest of Brookfield Missouri.

She was predeceased in death by her father Lewis Demarest and her husband Ted Johnson.

Becky’s family would like to thank the Shawnee Mission Cancer Center staff, the Kansas City Hospice team, and many friends near and far for their support during her illness and passing.
