Christopher Wayne Whittier, 58, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away August 3, 2012, from cancer. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, with a Rosary prayer service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Families for Mental Health, PO Box 325 Shawnee Mission, KS 66201. Christopher was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Red Bank, NJ. He was the beloved son of Roderick and Phyllis Whittier and brother of Randall and Duncan Whittier. Chris was kind to everyone; he loved people and nature, especially birds and animals. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit. We celebrate his life and his courage. Chris was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, brothers, sister-in-law, Connie Corbett- Whittier of Topeka, Kan., four nephews and two great nieces.
