Cynthia O’Gara Smith, 60, Overland Park, KS, passed away July 25, 2015 at KU Med Center. Funeral will be held 10am Friday, July 31 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday, July 30 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Cynthia O’Gara Smith was born on February 17, 1955 in Evanston, Illinois to Georgiana Molleson Foster-O’Gara and Wilfred Reinhold Arthur Theel. In the early 60’s, Cindy’s mother remarried Edward O’Gara and the family moved to Kansas in 1968. A graduate of Bishop Miege High school, Cindy then went on to graduate magna cumlaude from Ottawa University with a degree in business. Cindy wed Bryan Smith in 2003. In 2011, Cindy took over as caregiver for her mother and took on this role full time until Georgiana passed away in February of 2014.

Cindy was a loving mother, to her son Josh and her stepdaughters, Amy, Sarah and Laura. She especially loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren and spoiling them as much as she could. She was a devoted wife to Bryan. The couple loved to travel, play golf and entertain. They were also passionate sports fans. She was an avid gardener, cook, online shopper, and loved all things crafty. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and took every opportunity to do so.

She was preceded in death most recently by her mother Georgiana O’Gara. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Smith; son, Josh (Sarah) Allen; stepdaughters, Amy (Andrew) Hill, Sarah (Josh) Smith, and Laura Smith; and by her 5 grandchildren, Lucilia & Francesca Allen & Chase, Bryn & Sutton Hill. She is also survived by her brothers, Guy (Sue) O'Gara and Bill (Melissa) O'Gara; and nephews, Griffin, Cooper, Camden, Cole, Daniel and Joseph O'Gara.
