David passed away on February 5, 2026. He was born April 23, 1942, to Hubert and Elizabeth Lofstrom in Chicago, IL. He attended Notre Dame High School, in Niles, IL, where he enjoyed speed skating and playing football. He would tell the story of how he tackled Dick Butkus once during a high school game. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, primarily stationed on the USS Coral Sea. After his military service, he received a business degree from Drake University in 1968. Following his degree, he married his beloved wife Mary Hatler Lofstrom on March 16, 1974, and worked for Xerox for 10 years. He then opened his own his business: The Print Shop at the Ward Parkway Center where he worked until his retirement.
David was preceded in death by both his parents and a sister, Susan Lofstrom Eaton. He is survived by his loving wife Mary. They were gifted with a daughter Bridget (spouse Trevor Tyrrell) and a granddaughter Heidi Tyrrell. He is also survived by his beloved brothers and a sister: Brian Lofstrom of Las Vegas, and Michael Lofstrom of Lincolnshire, IL, and Joan Lofstrom Sinodinos of Little Rock, AR.
Dave really enjoyed his family life and his friends. He was a man of strong faith and attended Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church. He liked to play golf, go to the theater, and to share a game of Aggravation with friends. He also loved to watch the Chiefs play football. He was a season ticket holder for many years.
Dave had a long good-bye with Alzheimer’s. He did his best to be cheerful and gracious. The family is grateful to friends and neighbors for the love and support they gave to him and us. A private mass/celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please gift to City Union Mission or Alzheimer’s Association.
