Dr. David R. McGhee, 55, Overland Park, KS passed away Sept. 16th, 2010 at home after a 10 month battle with lung cancer. Memorial services will be held at McGilley & Hoge Funeral Home, 8024 Santa Fe, Overland Park, KS 66204 on Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 at 11 AM with the visitation shortly before at 10 AM. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Foundation of Veterinary Dentistry (www.f4vd.com), or the American Cancer Society. Dr. McGhee was born August 17th, 1955 in Norton KS, and graduated from Kansas State University in 1981 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He worked in Oklahoma for one year, and then California for 11 years as a vet where he married and had his two children, Tricia and Richard. He is also survived by his mother: Anne Grothusen of Ellswoth, Kansas and father: Charles McGhee of Hiawatha, Kansas. He was very involved with the Covina Host Lions Club and was president of the chapter the last year he was there. In 1993 he moved to Overland Park and joined the Hecker Animal Clinic (now KC Veterinary Care) in 1999, then later becoming a partner.
